"It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal."

― C.S. Lewis

My name is Sheila Clay. I am co-owner of North Dallas Christian Counseling, along with my husband James "Steve" Clay, who is a licensed professional counselor. Serving in my local church alongside of Steve, I knew that I would need additional training in the care of people so I entered into a 2 year training process with *ACBC in 2020 to gain a certification in biblical counseling. In July of 2022, I completed my certification where I am a current member. I meet with adult women who are struggling with various issues.

History and Journey
Fresh out of high school, I moved to Arkansas to work for a small commuter airline, where I met my husband and married in 1983. Through my husband, I began studying more in-depth the word of God for myself. In 1987 feeling the call of God on our lives, we moved to Dallas, TX, where my husband studied to become a professional counselor. Throughout Bible college and seminary days, I homeschooled our four children, led Bible studies, and served in various ways in our local church and homeschooling associations. After a very long journey, Steve and I began North Dallas Christian Counseling, where I currently function as the office administrator for the counselors at NDCC and counsel women at our office.

Goal and Passion
As I build a relationship with woman, I desire to assist them in applying the word of God as their source of comfort in grief, guidance in relationships, and to be a source of encouragement as they enter into a struggle they may be facing within their own hearts. Ministering to those who have experienced loss and grief through lament is especially a passion of mine. Loss is something we all experience whether large or small. How we handle it matters. Because of my biblical studies, I have learned to love the Psalms and the message of hope that they bring to our suffering and grief.

The Lord has given me a desire to be a support to Steve in his role at NDCC as well as the other counselor(s). I love to learn by reading material applicable to counseling, health and wellness, and literature. I also love essential oils and of course, our dog.

Personal
I have been married to Steve for 41 years and have four wonderful children, who are all married. Being a grandmother of five beautiful grandchildren is my joy as well as another opportunity to minster. We are covenant members of Citizen Church in Plano.
